Task 1 – Madyson Whitlock

1.Earth Care

(Recycling)
Recycling, allows people to give back and reuse materials they’ve already used or create something else entirely different, an example of this could be recycling paper which could be turned into something new such as toilet paper or paper towels. It also reduces waste among the world, and conserves more materials such as paper or plastic.

(One Tree Planted)

One Tree Planted is a non-profit charity organization, they plant tree’s all over the world in different countries, “One dollar plants one tree.” Having trees is something that is extremely important, with all the construction and pollution we have added to our planet it should be our job to at least re-pay the planet, you want to keep things balanced, we need trees for clear air and clear forestry. Nature is an important thing to help us and other things thrive so without it the world would crumble.

(Solar Energy)

Solar energy is one of the most sustainable sources of energy. Over time, it helps individuals save money while using cleaner energy. With rising costs of light bills over the past few years this is a good resource that can be used to lower those costs and cleaner energy makes for a better environment and again, a bit less pollution.

2. People Care

(Food Drives)
Food drives, they’re are organized by communities to help  assist people that can’t afford to buy the average amount of groceries especially with rising costs. Food drives also makes sure people are receiving nutritious food like filling meals, drives give people a sense of relief as well since not every family is able to prepare fully cooked meals on their tables.

(Thrifting, Goodwill, Salvation Army)
Thrifting could fit into both earth care and people care. Thrifting is a great system, people give away clothes or items they don’t use anymore and are able to donate these items and those items go to people that need those resources. Clothing and other items become reusable, though it’s not a lot, thrifting clothes reduces some of the clothing waste. Instead of having all theses materials get simply thrown out and wasted to a landfill thrifting is a way to give and item a second chance which is something most people need, as well as affordability. Nearby locations include Goodwill or Salvation Army, but there are other multiple locations people can find these places.

(University of Maine Counseling Center)

The University of Maine provides their students with openly free counseling resources towards them, school and life can both be stressful and just being able to have an open resource at people’s finger tips is a great thing to have. Therapy can be expensive, it can be impossible to find a therapist with the long wait-lists, and even if this counseling isn’t permanent it’s a good enough breather to give to people that need the help and resources.

3.Fair Share

(GoFundMe)
GoFundMe is a funding platform where communities can come together as one to donate for greater causes and other uses, it raises money for people struggling or different types of events like concerts or carnivals, even local causes such as school sport teams and charities. GoFundMe also doesn’t charge for starting up fundraising.

(Kickstarter)

Kickstarter is another funding website where people can kick off their own ideas, it’s a website where money can be raised to start off projects that others want to see come to life. Most of theses go towards new indie games or show series but it’s overall a location where people in the beginning processes of creating something can grow and gain support.

(YouTube)

Youtube is a free online space that can have any type of video you can think of, entertainment, cooking how-to’s, or even how to put on a tie. It’s a free resource that mostly anyone can access, a free internet source with above and beyond information.
