Read then write a post about something that serves this purpose in your family’s life—maybe parents, children, grandkids all know it. What does place & people have to do with culture?
After reading the article, I can’t really think of a place that comes to mind for my family’s life. My dad likely has many places that radiate these feelings, but even then, it’s difficult to point at a single, remaining constant that I know to be similar to a kissas. Nearly everything around me is different from when I was younger. The only thing that comes to mind for me would be the Governor’s in Old Town or the Pat’s Pizza in Orono, both of which have multiple locations and are probably not visited enough to be considered close to my family. Maybe Yamas in Orono? A lot of where we go are either chains or one-off visits to small restaurants/stores.
Photography Tips:
- Story tip #1: Ask yourself what about the scene excites you.
- Don’t fall into a trap of focusing around something for others and not yourself
- You can build your photos around the mood you want the viewer to feel.
- Wait for a moment to evolve rather than just capturing a static scene.
- Zane said, “Take photos that invite thought, interpretation, depth, and mystery.”
- Use a monument/main subject and compose based on it.
- Allow it to be clear what the subject of the photo is.
Tips for changing my photographs:
- If I could’ve, I’d take them during the same time of year as parts of the story I’m writing about take place in, since the contrast between the times of the year is interesting but not relevant.
- I could try and recreate the scenery from older photos that I have, since some came out grainy and unusable or some are videos.
- Right now, only about half of my photos bring out some sort of mood associated with them, a large portion of them are just photos for the sake of taking photos since they don’t have specific subjects.
