Read then write a post about something that serves this purpose in your family’s life—maybe parents, children, grandkids all know it. What does place & people have to do with culture? (edited)
-To me, the article talked about third spaces. My personal family is spread all across New England, so there is not a space like this for my family. However, my Girlfriends family has two locations that serve this purpose. One of which is a family beach where, once a week over the summer, everybody meets and enjoys a beach day together in coastal Maine. The other location is a house called Edgehill that has been in their family for over a hundred years, and as family visits from all over during the summer, there is always a dinner or event at that house. I’ve gone multiple times to play with my girlfriend’s little cousins and at the big barn they have, and it is a very laid-back, relaxed family gathering that I believe serves as a third space.
Q: Why are third places disappearing?
A: I think that third place is our disappearance due to a sense of efficiency. If you look in a city, every bench has anti-homeless technology built into it, and every cement structure has anti-skating functions built into it as well. There are thousands of no-loitering signs wherever you go, and if you try to sit in a restaurant for too long, you will be asked to leave to make room for a customer. Every other third space, such as malls or movie theaters, has removed human connection and increased security to stop loitering. I think that these third spaces have begun to move online and that it has resulted in a loss of connection

Make a list of changes that would improve you photographs?
If you can’t take new photos, Explain at least three changes you would make to your photos that could improve them. Then keep this in mind for your next photos.
Some changes I can make to improve them are focusing more on composition. I think there is “no such thing” as too much composition practice, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be reminded to practice them. I think in my photography I can try to better understand the rule of thirds and try hard to use them more than I already do. I think in relation to my project, the next time I would take similar photos, I would focus more on leading lines. With the photos I took at the bleachers I could have used the railing and the lines bleachers to create visually appealing images. I think a third composition tool I could use is symatry with the stairs, on both sides of a group going up at the same time .
