FORM/TECHNIQUE: The entire photo is taken up by phone chargers. The lighting is good enough that you can see individual details despite the dark colors. The sheer overabundance of the same type of object taking up the entire frame help drive home the point.
EFFECT: This photo was taken in 2004 back when most people used non-smart cell phones, such as flip phones. Nowadays, phone chargers don’t look like this. As such, these chargers have become increasingly obsolete. Everything in this photo looks like early 2000s technology that has little use in the modern world. This photo reminded me of the numerous devices that have been designed and produced throughout the years only for them to fall out of use. I’ve always wondered what happens to the majority of them, but it seems the answer unfortunately is this. I feel it would be best to preserve the technology for as long as possible especially if they’re out of production. Failing that, recycle the material somehow.
