Expectations

Commit to class attendance, your own learning, and supporting your peers.

Attendance grading includes participation and presence. Phone use, disrupting class, and/or frequently leaving class can result in loss of attendance credit for that day.

Develop team and collaborative skills: Share. Ask for help. Give help. You get extra credit for BOTH of these.

Keep up, or contact me asap to request a “break” if you need one.

Respect everyone: professor, visitors, classmates, yourself. Practice claiming your truths in ways that are constructive and supportive.

Protect everyone’s health and privileges with good hygiene. This means getting enough sleep, food and exercise to stay healthy. Do not come to class if you are sick, or mask up if you have any symptoms.

Classwork & Attendance

This is a studio workshop class where most of your work is done in class. Attendance is required to follow along at the rapid class pace and should result in no missed work. Missed work of any kind counts as a 0 grade, and so lowers your grade substantially.  Final projects will be due at the beginning of exam week. There will be no final exam.

  • 30% Project 1 Portfolio
  • 30% Project 2 Portfolio
  • 15%  Tasks
  • 15 % Quizzes
  • 10%  Attendance & Participation
(You start out with 100; after 2 absences of any kind, each absence drops your score by 5 points. so 5 missed classes = 85, 9 missed classes = failing)

Grading

A Outstanding work, generous contribution to improvement of your own and other student work, robust contribution to class and peers

B Very good work, clear contribution to improvement of your own and other student work, robust contribution to class and peers

C Good work without much improvement from initial class assignments, minimal contribution to class or peers

D Just getting most the work done, but without much learning, contribution or improvement. Missing assignments.

F Missing 40%of the work or more, with low grades on the rest and poor attendance.
