The basic concept behind DEI–Diversity, Equity, Inclusion–is respecting cultural or geographic or identity differences among peoples, and yet treating everyone with the same level of fairness and consideration. It’s Fair Share applied to all people.
To quote Vyond:
DEI refers to the values and practices that aim to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive society, workplace, or community. Diversity entails recognizing and respecting differences among people. Equity means providing fair treatment and equal opportunities to all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or identities in order to address historical and systemic injustices. Lastly, inclusion means creating a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment where everyone’s perspectives and contributions are heard, considered, and respected. Together, DEI promotes social justice, human rights, and fair treatment of individuals within a society.
Can you capture this symbolically or conceptually in an animation? Can you show some differences that seem to create friction, and yet need not do so? Or is there another way to show appreciation for and respect for difference without negative discrimination? You might also try to show the sources of discrimination in such a way that they seem unnecessary.
This Vyond sample animation defines the terms, then gives simple animated images to support DEI values. You’ll want to go beyond just using that template and changing the colors for your brand (as they suggest) to create your own visual ideas.
Create a short animation in which you suggest these ideas. Your audience can be children, adults or both. Feel free to use Adobe Animate, Canva Animate, or any other animation software you’re comfortable with (not AI-generated, but you can use templates).
