Task 1-Meghan Fay

REVISED:

    • Earth Care:
      1. My first example of a product that is beneficial to the care of the Earth is Allbird shoes. Allbird shoes are sustainably made and the company is working to reduce its carbon footprint to zero. The shoes are comfortable and trendy, all while using products such as eucalyptus and sugarcane in its fabric. Allbird
      2. My second example is Tesla utilizing electric charging in their cars. The use of electric cars reduces the emissions of greenhouse gasses in the air. Tesla.
      3. My final example is Seventh Generation cleaning products. I personally use these products, since they use safe ingredients in their formulas, and use less plastic in their packaging. Seventh Generation.
    • People Care:
      1. My first thought when I hear of people care is the company AirBnb. AirBnb is a company that allows people to rent out their homes or apartments to people traveling, vacationing or more at a lower cost. Airbnb is easy to use when looking for hospitality, but also allows people to make their own money by allowing people to stay. It offers tools such as verified members, reviews, and more to help build a sense of community while making reservations. Airbnb.
      2. Another company that puts people first is Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace where anyone can sell anything. It creates a platform for artists to sell their work to anyone anywhere, and makes it easy for people to access handmade items. Etsy.
      3. My final example is Goodwill, since it is a donation based corporation that resells clothes at a discounted price. Goodwill is one of my personal staples when going out and shopping, not only because I am saving money, it reduces the influx of fast fashion and landfill waste. Goodwill.
    • Fair Share:
      1. A good example of a fair share company is the Internet Archive. It is a free to access website that allows anyone to access old web pages and information. It is archived by people who work in their extra time to restore books, media and more. The company is a non profit organization and has a lot of lost important information. Internet Archive.
      2. Another example is Uber and Lyft. These companies allow people to get rides anywhere at any time. As a student who originally didn’t have a car on campus or have anyone in the state, I used Uber a lot so I could access grocery stores, doctors, and even work. Uber drivers can be almost anyone, and is a popular way to make extra funds. Uber.
      3. My last example is Duolingo. I know many people who have used Duolingo to study when traveling, or even just to build knowledge in their free time. I used Duolingo to study before taking Spanish classes, and still go back to it to brush up on my knowledge. It is a completely free app that anyone can access and it offers training on over 40 languages. Duolingo.
