“Where I’m From” Digital Memory Exercise

Goal: Show how your sense of place has shaped who you are.

This activity invites you to reflect on your personal background and explore how the places you are from—your hometown, neighborhood, or community—have shaped who you are today. By curating and sharing images, you can create a visual story that connects memory, place, and identity. This should help you with you rProject assignment.


Steps

  1. Find Images (5 minutes)
    • Choose 2-4 images (your own photos or from the internet) that represent “where you’re from.” You don’t have to be literal–ie your hometown; you can be imaginative like “the forested rail road tracks behind my friend’s house” As long as your images are from a real place or are similar to that real place.
  2. Reflect (5 minutes)
    • Write 3–4 sentences:
    • What do these images show about where you’re from?
    • How has that place influenced you?
  3. Discuss (5 minutes)
    • Share your reflection with a partner or small group.
  4. Share (5 minutes)
    • Optimize then upload your images as a Post with Title :  Where I’m From-yourname, and use one image as your featured image; and Task as the Category. Add your written and/or spoken reflections about how this place has shaped you.
