Story Structure

Task 3

Use Truby’s Seven Steps Story Structure  to help you define some of the key components of your story.

Write a few sentences for each of the Seven Steps to define what these might be for your story. These may change and develop over time, but having some kind of map will be helpful. You can copy the list below into your post and use it as a guide.

  1. Weakness and need
  2. Desire
  3. Opponent
  4. Plan
  5. Battle
  6. Self-revelation
  7. New equilibrium

Pick 2 of the seven steps and write 4 passages for each one in your Twine story. That should give you at least 8-10 more passages and a more developed story.

You may want to choose some steps that help you define your character better, like Weakness/Need and Desire.  Or you could jump to a middle section of our story and have your protagonist confront the antagonist to see what that battle might reveal about each character.

Your task is one of discovery, nit perfection. What can you lean by fleshing out a few of these seven steps.

You should post the text (and images if you used any) of your new passages to the class website as Task 3–Yourname

Note that you will NOT be able to reproduce the exact structure of your story as you will be missing the links, but your content should be posted.
