For my Story map Sandbox, I decided to focus on my trip to Mont Tremblant, a ski resort in the Laurentian Mountains in the province of Quebec, Canada, about 130 km (81 miles) northwest of Montreal. I figured this would be a good start to get used to the software and explore different options within ArcGIS. For my final StoryMap, I was thinking of shifting from this towards something more aligned with my Capstone project, which focuses on data tracking and privacy, as well as surveillance and AI. I could highlight areas in Maine specifically where concerns with AI and information privacy have arose. This would also help get more work done on my Capstone, as part of it was to create a map and ping areas in Maine where this is happening, much like what we can do in ArcGIS.
For research, I plan to look into credible sources that discuss AI use and data privacy issues in Maine, such as local news outlets, government reports, and academic studies. I’ll use a mix of visuals, including maps, photos, and possibly short video clips, to make the StoryMap more engaging and interactive. This combination of media will help show not only where these issues occur but also how they affect communities across the state.
