Project 2c: William Kim

Here is the video, poorly rendered.

I will be rendering at higher quality for the final version, but this is a test render that I managed to get out after around 6 hours of rendering on lowest settings.

To expand on the idea of the ‘plot’ of the video so to speak, I wanted to create the sense of a plot having already happened in this place long ago, we are simply observing the aftermath of it. I had to remove the environmental entities from the scene because they were slowing down the render, but there are supposed to be multiple kneeling figures with a charred texture facing the structure, they become more frequent as the viewer gets closer to the structure.

  1. Mysterious forest/church like scene; I am clearly being pulled to the central monolith (god/king/priest/parent metaphor?)? but it keeps retreating. So creates an uneasy feeling. Dizzying. It feels ominous and strange. Music works well–is it one of your original compositions?

I like the yellow sun-like light over the monolith as it also draws my attention.

Interesting transformation of the monolith to a flower like shape then a bright yellow sun–it was hard to see as the video stalled, and I couldn’t read the text…hoping to get a better look on campus–

I’ll need to see the whole to get a feel for the story, but a creative “place-based” sequence. I’m still trying to get a sense of the story.
