situation – A hummingbird enjoys existing in the yard. People enjoy existing in the yard.
desire – The hummingbird happily pollinates as he drinks nectars and eats small bugs. He desires to be able to continue to benefit from the environment he is in. He wants to keep thriving.
conflict – People are upset with the amount of bugs bothering them, and decide to spray the yard to prevent bugs from spawning there.
change – The hummingbird spends less time in the yard, and less time pollinating, because the lack of bugs makes it much more difficult for him to exist.
result – People lament how their plants are in poor condition. They blame it on climate change in general, unaware of how their small choices can affect the ecosystem as a whole.
Inspiration
I was inspired by puppet shows and Flat Stanley. Last summer it would be difficult for us to spend time in my friends backyard because of all the ticks. This spring, her landlord offered to spray for bugs, so she was appreciative and let him. I was surprised by this because she has several raised bed gardens. This inspired me to do a project about balance in our ecosystems, and how trying to alter ecosystems unnaturally will have adverse effects. I really wanted to do a project on birds, but I didn’t think I would be able to get reliable footage of them for a full story. I decided that my best option would be to use a cut out. I attached the hummingbird to wire and kept the motions a little silly, because the cutout itself is silly. I chose to use cutouts for the people to make the format of the hummingbird seem more intentional. I also show the speech bubbles moving in and out of frame because I think it’s funny.

Good research, Creative approach. Clear theme.
Sound effects, script–minimal( maybe key data about hummingbird?) –and background music could help you form this story and give it audio coherence.
Make a choice between hand written text and text on screen ( at end) you could do either–by lengthening your video duration and omitting the bubble) or by adding bubble at the end…
OR you could use digital text only at beg & end…but it needs to be deliberate.
