- Something important from Princess Mononoke
- How both sides have good intentions, but they conflict and cause harm with one another. For example, Iron-town is home to people who fear and hold hate for the forest out of the loss they endured, but their attack and defense on nature is killing the planet and their own home.
- Nausicaa:
- Nausicaa’s ability to see what’s wrong and right and stand up for herself even against power. The toxicity and the mold in the jungle is something that the people fear, and so the conflict of people vs nature arises.
- Solarpunk video:
- I remember seeing the art for the solar-punk aesthetic and I was very fascinated by it, but this was at a time where there was not a ton of information on it but I find the use of nature almost reclaiming its environment very cool.
- list of additional inspiration for project:
- the last of us – a struggle between sentiment and the ‘right’ thing to do, post apocalyptic
Video idea:
- I want to have two friends sitting together talking about a relevant campus issue, and have them be on opposing sides. This then falls down into a political fight where they realize they fundamentally have different beliefs in certain issues. Friend A won’t try to agree or listen to Friend B’s side, but insists that they can ‘agree-to-disagree’, while friend A wants to find a mutual understanding first.
- The issue I want to tackle the polarization in our culture and what that later means for interpersonal connection. I want to ask the question, “does history with a friend melt away with simple disagreement, or do we sometimes sacrifice our own beliefs for the people we care about?”
