The Newport Cliff Walk
The Cliff Walk has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on its paths, walking my dogs, jogging on breezy mornings, and swimming on hot summer days. Over the past few summers, one of my favorite traditions has been running with my mom and dogs on Sunday mornings to catch the sunrise. Watching the first light rise across the water and the rocks feels specially every time.
It’s also a place I love to share with friends. Some days it’s grabbing a coffee and walking along the path, other days it’s cliff jumping, dipping into the still pools, or laying out on the rocks to soak up the sun. Stopping to watch the surfers paddling out and catching waves, rising and falling with the ocean, is always a warm sight. No matter what we’re doing, the ocean is always nearby, a constant in my life, and the greenery along the cliffs makes it feel so alive in the summers.
The mix of nature and movement, with people always passing by, both strangers and friends, combined with the simple beauty of the Cliff Walk has made it more than just a trail to me. It’s woven into so many of my core memories while still being a place where I create new ones. No matter how many times I go, it never feels the same, yet it never loses its familiarity.

I like the framing on some of these, especially the one of looking through the tunnel at one of your dogs. I wonder how this place would look at night?
