A Walk In The Dark
(I couldn’t get the shorthand embed to work)
Frank Albert’s Post
The first tip I’d like to steal for future projects is the use of historical imagery to contrast with our current experiences from Frank’s post. It’s interesting to think about how people of the past might’ve interacted with the things and places that we interact with today.
Jane Roe’s Post
The other tip I’d like to steal for future projects is the layout from Jane Roe’s project. I found the fading captions while the image staying still a super interesting way to layout a project. It almost feels like a music lyric video.
What I Saw and What I Missed
What I saw:
I am really proud of what I was able to come up with in terms of a story in this project. I didn’t have much of anything towards an actual story going into the third week but after a lot of time spent brainstorming I am really happy with what I ended up with. I used the theme of streetlights and darkness in my photos to tell the story of my struggle with anxiety through the ups and downs of my walk to the pier near my house. And while the story of my walk was pretty exaggerated and stretched the truth, it held very true to my experience with anxiety.
I definitely could’ve done more with camera and photography techniques. I kind of had to work with what I had in terms of photos. I took them all before I knew what my story would be about and I didn’t have time to travel all the way back home to take new ones in the location I chose. I also would’ve liked to have used less text to tell my story and tell it more through my photos. The problem was that my story was very heavily rooted in metaphor and I needed to explain a lot of that through text.
