A place that has always been relevant in my life in some way is Oahu. I’d never been before the trip that these photos were taken on, but my Mom spent most of her childhood growing up on the Army base there. My parents usually take an annual trip there, but I had never been able to go. It was so different than I expected, I was prepared for a Caribbean adjacent experience, but Hawaii was full of landscapes like I’d never seen. This first photo is of the Dole Planation in the middle of the island, we were driving from Honolulu to the North Shore.

While there, we met a two fisherman that were my age, and ended up going out on their charter the next morning. I caught a 6.5ft striped marlin, it was a really cool experience. The next day, we visited my Mom’s old school. We were promptly confronted by an angry nun, but it was great to see a part of her life in that way.

HanamaBayReserve

This is Hanama Bay, we snorkeled there and saw tons of wildlife.

This is the last photo I took from Hawaii, right outside of our airport terminal. I love how everything in Hawaii is outside in someway.
