Alex Hodgkins Project 1

Upon starting my story, I tried to build something that wasn’t as rich as I thought. When taking pictures around the frat house, it was hard to depict certain memories from some pictures. Unfortunately, I had plans to go home during the weekend so I didn’t really have time to retake photos for a fully fledged story. The opportunity that arose, however, was my extensive history of film and writing from back home. This weekend, I retook photos of my fondest memories and used them to retell my story of how my passion for writing scripts came to be. I felt that because it was much more meaningful to me, it could serve as a better story for you.

There were a couple students who also used this project as a way to tell us how they became passionate about something and I thought it was the perfect approach. There were still a couple of things that I could improve upon when making similar works. The first was that I should’ve taken more pictures so I had more material to work with. I really just took what was necessary to the project which was the older photos overlapping the new setting. There was rarely a time where I took the creative liberty to shoot more angles or scenes. This made it so when I was crafting the story based on the images, there wasn’t much to supplement the in between spaces. The last thing was that I wish I played around with different times. I went around and shot these photos all around the same time. Due to the fluctuating tides and lack of time given, I couldn’t really go back and take another photos. Nonetheless, I’m really fond of the photos I did take and hope that you are too.
