3A – Nate Walker

Proposal:

A Student at the University of Maine begins to hear the voice of the Penobscot River. As it guides him along it’s banks, he learns the history of the River through it’s words and through visions of the past. Although the protagonist initially participates only out of fear and alarm, he begins to empathize and relate to the River. At the end, through a final vision of an ideal future, the character dedicates his life to restoring the Penobscot.
