Setting: Downtown Orono
Theme: Busy, loud, chaotic
Note: there will be a voice over throughout
Opening shots:
- Cars driving by
- People walking down the street
- Show downtown
Highlight the sound of the city: cars honking, engines, footsteps, chatter, crosswalk beeps
Setting the scene:
- Show the shops of downtown
- Graffiti
- Traffic lights
The Details:
- Car tires
- puddles splashing
- Trash
- Construction
The Main Character:
- Have someone walk into frame and follow them as they walk through downtown orono
Scene 2 – The Desire for Escape (Desire)
Setting: Edge of downtown transitioning toward nature
Theme: Curiosity and longing
The Journey:
- One shot as the character walks down a very long road
- Cut up this shot with different shots throughout
- Ground level of shoes front, behind, side
- Show the town in the background as he is walking away
City sounds start to fade away the further he walks as sounds of nature begin
Scene 3 – The Journey Into Nature (Conflict → Change)
Setting: Trail through the woods leading to the Penobscot River
Theme: Transition, discovery
Nature:
- Wide shot, main character walks into the frame from the left, stops halfway through and walks into the woods
- POV shot as he walks through the trees and the brush
- Show shoes stepping over uneven terrain
- Show details of the woods
City sounds completely gone, nature sounds present, birds, wind in the trees, the sound of a river grows
Scene 4 – The Discovery (Result)
Setting: Penobscot River
Theme: Renewal, peace, connection
The Hidden Gem:
- Stationary shot of the woods, holds for a few seconds before Main character walks out, hold shot until he has walked past the camera and is no longer in frame
- Show him as he walks along the river and takes in the beauty
- Show the detail
- the small rapids in the river
- The flowers along the river bank
- The trees
- The rocks
- Highlight the beauty of nature
Scene 5 – Reflection (Resolution)
Setting: Penobscot River
Theme: Awareness, balance, and regeneration
