Title: Edge of the Woods
Setting: The forest edge behind my home in Old Town, Maine.
Concept: The boundary between civilization and wilderness. how light, sound, and movement shift between the worlds.
Story Premise: Begin through my doorway looking into the woods, move deeper into the trees as the human world fades, ending in silence and stillness.
Style: Quiet, immersive, and surreal.
- Princess Mononoke – I like the idea the concept of mononokes soul belonging with the nature, but body being human. That contrast perfectly symbolizes the central struggles of the story (human vs human) (human vs nature) (human vs human vs nature)
- Nausicaa – I like the solarpunk setting, and the concept of nature rejecting humanity (human vs environment). I will incorporate that into my story by telling a story of a person vs nature. I also like the magical aspect of the nature, when it reacts and fights back, it feels almost conscious.
