This concept wasn’t particularly hard. I walk with my dog multiple times a day, and I thought it wouldn’t be hard to get good photos. However, taking a “Good” photo of a living, moving creature isn’t the same as taking a picture of the scenery. There’s a lot more timing and frustration in trying to get a good photo. It’s also hard to remember to take photos. With something like walking a dog that becomes so ingrained in my daily schedule, it is difficult not to just go through the motions and to remember to find angles and places that are advantageous for photos.
Originally, my story was from my perspective, which made it kind of dull. Roman and Joline suggested that I try to do it from the dog’s perspective, which gave the actual story of my photos a lot more character and personality.
I think with that final photo I took, I started to understand the timing and the angles and how to get high-quality photos. I want to incorporate filters like William did to change the narrative of the story, because although Nova is a very cute and fun dog, she can also be kind of creepy, so I wouldn’t mind showing off that side of her.
