Assignment 1b – Jack Brooks

It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.

Story Behind the Images

These photos are from my hike on Cadillac Mountain this past week. When going on this hike, my goal was to experience nature at its fullest, and to clear my mind from things. When laying out this post I made sure to add them chronologically for the best effect. The first image shows struggle I started with when hiking a trail called The Gorge, which is a steep hike through two mountains. As I continued I captioned the remaining photos with thoughts that I had at that point of my hike. Once I got to the top I had the feeling of relief and realization. As I started hiking down, the sun also started to go down, reminding me that soon I would be in the dark. However I managed to beat the sun on my hike down and noticed a bridge that was built, which had moss and age written all over it. It was something in nature that was man made and so I named the image coexisting, because nature is trying to recapture this human made bridge.

  1. I really enjoy this project because It reminds me of my many trips to Acadia and up Cadillac. I have stopped at several of these same points to take photos of my own.

  2. I haven’t hiked Acadia yet. I recently did Double Top at Baxter and it was great. I’ll have to check out Cadillac sometime!
