In darkness, there is the sound of something flying through the air and then an explosion from impact. “These noises, why are they haunting me?” The darkness erupts into a scene of a battlefield. A hooded figure wielding a huge glowing sword stands on a ledge looking over a rocken field. Armored orcs, followed by weaponized robots, charged towards an oncoming army made up of countless different species. The orc force was greatly outnumbered, as they were fighting multiple armies at once. A giant robotic dragon burst through the ranks. It was about 150 feet long, white with black markings, and had glowing purple eyes. It let out a shrieking roar before emitting blasts of lasers from its mouth, eyes, and a large gun on its head, tearing apart the troops. A large armored orc approached the hooded figure. “My lord, what shall we do?” he asked. The figure, not moving, replied in two voices, one human and one not so human, much to deep, raspy, and powerful. “Recall all troops, send the Combiner unit to cover them from the dragon.” “Right away my lord,” and the orc let out a powerful roar of his own. From the higher ground above the orc troops, a group of heavily armed and armored robots jumped off the ledge, and combined into a 100 foot robot, which throws aside and crushes a few opposing troops in front of him while charging towards the dragon. The dragon blasted a beam of lasers at the combiner, but it sidestepped and fired back with a gun on one of its arms, landing a shot on the dragon. “Lets go, gather the rest of the commandos and meet me in the throne room of the castle,” said the cloaked man, turning around. The man’s face was wisps of darkness, but would shape into a humanoid face, one that looked oddly familiar.
An alarm clock started going off, and Malgrum gasped awake. He looked around the room, dazed. It was a sunny morning, with not a cloud in the sky. The room was vacant, as everyone else was up in the house, and a commotion from downstairs suggested everyone was in the living room and kitchen. Malgrum left the room and walked towards the stairs, but as he took the first step, he heard a voice, a voice that sounded like the one in the dream. “This world was never meant to be,” it said. “Our mission is to purge it to its original state.” “What the hell was that,” Malgrum thought to himself. “I swear it’s in my head, but it fills the room, it completely surrounds me.” He walked down the stairs and approached Bitoku and Mia, who were sitting at a bar in the kitchen. “Good morning Malgrum,” said Bitoku. Malgrum nodded in reply, and after a few seconds replied. “Did any of you hear a voice, like one that wasn’t from any of us and loud as hell?” Mia and Bitoku looked at each other, “no, we haven’t, do you think it was one of your visions again?” “Actually, I did have a dream, but I don’t think it has anything to do with my past.” Malgrum explained his dream to Bitoku, who looked at him questionably. “So you heard the same voice in your dream as you were walking down the stairs,” Bitoku asked. “Yes,” replied Malgrum.” “Hmm, that is odd. The events of the dream can’t be real, it just can’t exist, and a dream can just be a dream. The voice while you were awake, however, is what’s getting me, cause that is one hundred percent something, especially if it is connected to the dream. Maybe the voice is someone you know, and your dream is an interpretation of that” “I don’t know, but the figure kind of looked like me,” said Malgrum. “Maybe it’s just your imagination, none of this makes sense.” said Bitoku. Malgrum sat confused for a moment, and then decided to go outside to get the mail. “None of this makes any sense, oh hey Vik,” said malgrum as he passed his neighbor, who was out barbequing. Vik waved his spatula in the air, and the grill burst into flames, Vik waving his apron over it frantically to try and put it out. Malgrum walked up to the mailbox and grabbed the mail. “I could have just handed it to you for fuck sake, why is your timing ass,” said a voice behind Malgrum, as he was heading back towards the house. “Nice to see you Bob,” replied Malgrum to the large mailman.
As Malgrum began walking back to the house, the sky suddenly darkened. “Now what, I thought it was clear skies today, WAIT WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT!” A giant ship had appeared in the sky. It was black, with gray highlights and circular green windows. It was heading towards the city of Tokyo, but was launching smaller ships on the way. There was a giant crash as a ship landed a few blocks down, and from it sprang a group of armed robots. They were humanoid, some with the same colors as the ship, and having a green bubble as a face, while others had purple highlights with a sharp purple visor. They were all armed with a jagged gun with an energy stripe down the center, and they started shooting at onlooking people, as well as houses.
A shell laser hit the far side of Vik’s house and tore a hole in it. “Shit” yelled Vik, with his hands on his head. “Wow, looks like my inlaws finally showed up,” mused Bob, who stood chuckling until a laser landed right by him, barely missing him. “Bloody fucking hell, fuck this shit,” he bellowed, then pushing his mailbag into a starstruck Malgrum’s hands, ran by him towards Bitoku’s house. “Wait for me,” yelled Vik, who hurdled the fence and rushed towards Bitoku’s front door. Malgrum stood, staring, at the oncoming invasion, the voice echoing in his head and the vision of his dream running through his mind. “It can’t be,” he said “this can’t be real, there’s no way.” Yet there it was, real as it could get, looming over him. “But if this is real, is my dream real? If it is, what am I doing here, and how am I connected? Could I be that masked figure that spoke with my voice?” he thought, panicked. “Malgrum, c’mon!” Yelled Vik. Malgrum turned around and bolted towards the door, slamming it shut and locking it. Bitoku hurried to the three men at the doorway. “What’s all the racket outside, is there an earthquake?” Panting, Malgrum replied “you won’t believe me if I told you, turn on the tv, I swear if the news isn’t covering this I might be insane.” Mia and Tia were peaking behind Bitoku, looking concerned, and Ryla came running from the other room to Malgrum. “Are you alright,” she asked. “I don’t know,” replied Malgrum. “You have to see this shit, c’mon,” and the group made their way to the tv. They crashed on the couch, while a few others leaned on the backs of them, and grabbing the remote, turned on the tv. They put the news on and a live video appeared of the ships attacking, with a middle aged woman reporting on it. “The robot invasion is moving deeper into Tokyo. For those who weren’t tuned in earlier, we are under a full scale invasion from what appears to be robots that are not from this planet. The main target appears to be Tokyo, due to the vast population, but the areas around the city are also being affected, and there is a high probability that the invasion will expand once they are done with Tokyo. The military is trying to deal with the issue as we speak, however their technology trumps ours, so the outcome is unfavorable. The government recommends staying inside, in the lowest place possible, and remember, as far as we know these robots have no motive, which means all they know and care about is death and destruction.”
The group stood, staring at the tv with their jaws wide open. “Well shit,” said Bob. “How long can we hold out with so many people, with what we have for food?” Tia asked, concerned. “We don’t,” replies Bitoku. “We have to leave and head for the city. “WHAT! Are you insane!?” asks Vik. “Like Tia said, we won’t last on food and other resources. Once the robots are done with the city, they will target our area. By the time we sneak into the city, the majority of the people will be gone, either killed by the robots or having fled, so the city will be the least densely populated, meaning this area will be the target. Staying here we also have no cover or escape beyond this house, while the city will have more resources and hiding places. The only way we can survive in the long term is to face it head on.” The group sat in silence for a moment, all looking somber. “Well, when you put it that way, I guess we should probably get going,” said Bob. “pack your shit and let’s go.” Since there were a lot of people at the house that didn’t live at the house, they had to borrow resources from the members who lived there, taking their clothes, some food, and then meeting in the living area. “You guys ready?” asks Kali. “Let’s get this over with.”
Bitoku opens the door and peaks out, looking around. There is some destruction in the neighborhood, but nothing major. The streets were abandoned, with everyone being inside with their doors locked and blinds shut. “All clear, let’s go.” Bitoku led the group out of the house and down the street. With him he wielded a katana that he had initially had on display. “We need weapons to defend ourselves, keep an eye out for robots, if we can ambush them we can steal their guns.” The group continued walking down the street, keeping close to the fences for cover. As the were about to round a bend, they heard a weird noise, along with gears and the clunking of footsteps. “Ones coming, get down and stay behind,” whispers Bitoku. They crouched next to the fence, and could see the shadows of two robots that were around the bend. Bitoku grabbed and threw a rock over the fence beyond the robots. The robots turned around, aiming their guns in the direction of the rock. Bitoku sprang up from behind the fence and swung his sword horizontally, decapitating the robots before they knew what was happening. They dropped to their knees before crashing to the ground. “Quick, grab their guns,” said Bitoku. As he was turned around, a robot appeared from further down the street, running and coming to a stop before aiming and releasing a bolt at Bitoku. “BITOKU LOOK OUT!” Screamed Kali. Bitoku picked up his head and had a look of shock on his face, but before the shot could land, Malgrum sprang forward. A laser shield burst out of his right arm from nowhere, and he blocked the shot, before spinning around and shooting down the robot with a gun that had appeared in his left hand. The gun was futuristic and looked nothing like anything on earth. It was a bright neon purple, with two red lines that went through it. It had a ridge in the middle, where it had two spikes around the site, and the whole gun was made up of countless angular designs. Malgrum stood, arm still out with the gun smoking in his hand. “What just happened?” Kali asked nervously. Malgrum snapped out of his focused trance, shaking his head and looking at either side of himself, confused. “Curious,” said Bitoku. “Where did you get those, let alone learn how to use them?” “I don’t know,” replied Malgrum. “It just happened, something just came over me.” The shield and the gun all of a sudden glowed blue and zapped back into the belt he was wearing, turning back into the blue orbs that were decorating it. “So that’s where they came from,” noted Bitoku. “My friend, that mumbo jumbo you’ve been dreaming about may actually be real, because something about you is not of this world.” Kali, Ryla, and Vik each take a gun from the fallen robots. Then, regrouping, the group begins walking together in the center of the street, towards the looming city that is smoking before them.
