TASK 4 – Seneca Stevens

Task 4

The main characters ghost.

Pick one or two questions below and write a few paragraphs about each that help clarify a ghost in your own life, or in the life of someone you know.  Fictionalize the person by giving them a different age, gender, name, or other characteristic that expands the ghost, and moves it away from you (or the person you know).

  1. Why does your character believe the Lie?

Because it’s what drives him, he thinks his brother will be dead but in the end he will find him at the ceremony as a fire keeper or something

  1. Is there a notable event in his past that has traumatized him?

This is not quite traumatic but a key memory is his brother at his doorstep being ridiculed at by his parents and then leaving saying he’ll back soon, which was 10 years ago

  1. If not, will there be a notable event in the First Act that will traumatize him?

His homeworld being invaded by piradonians (space pirates) who unlike the rest of their people are evil and attack the main characters planet leaving a section he’s familiar in ruin

  1. Why does the character nourish the Lie?

Not sure what nourishing a lie really means but i guess he clings on to his death to inspire him, but on the inside he hopes he still out there somewhere

  1. How will he benefit from the Truth?

He will be at peace and be able to reunite with his brother and move on

  1. How “big” is your character’s ghost? If you made it bigger, would you end up with a stronger arc?

Not to big just enough to motivate him and keep him going

  1. Where will you reveal your character’s ghost? All at once early on? Or piece by piece throughout the story, with big reveal toward the end?

Early on on his first adventure, but in the end all will be revealed

  1. Does your story need the ghost to be revealed? Would it work better if you never revealed it?

It does narratively need to happen otherwise the story wouldn’t be good, at least for this one.
