Task 4 – Novak

1. Why does your character believe the Lie?

Alex believes the lie because of a traumatic incident from his childhood when his artistic creations unintentionally caused chaos. The lack of control over the outcome of his art during that event planted the seed of doubt in his mind, making him question the safety and responsibility of his abilities.

2. Is there a notable event in his past that has traumatized him?

Yes, the incident when Alex was just a kid and his art went out of control and had unexpected effects is the painful event from his history. He was deeply scarred by this event, which made him afraid of the possible harm his creations may do.

3. If not, will there be a notable event in the First Act that will traumatize him?

Given that a significant incident from his history has already occurred, I can use flashbacks or memories brought on by the events of the initial part to show and analyze the depth of this trauma, giving readers more understanding of Alex’s emotional challenges.

4. Why does the character nourish the Lie?

Because he is afraid of creating the same chaotic results as his previous inventions, Alex supports the lies. He is hesitant to completely embrace and comprehend the potential benefits of his ability since the tragedy has had a lasting effect on him.

5. How will he benefit from the Truth?

Alex’s self-doubt will be freed once he embraces the reality of his skills. He will be able to influence the world and further his artistic career by accepting the good things about his gift and learning how to use it wisely.

6. How “big” is your character’s ghost? If you made it bigger, would you end up with a stronger arc?

The depth of Alex’s inner conflict is reflected in the size of the ghost. His character arc can be strengthened by increasing the ghost’s significance and influence, since this would give his journey of overcoming self-doubt a greater depth and complexity.

7. Where will you reveal your character’s ghost? All at once early on? Or piece by piece throughout the story, with big reveal toward the end?

I will  gradually  reveal the ghost throughout the story, eventually resulting in an interesting conclusion,  and that may increase tension and hold readers’ attention. The audience is kept interested in learning the whole scope of Alex’s pain by this slow revelation, which enables a more detailed look at his background.

8. Does your story need the ghost to be revealed? Would it work better if you never revealed it?

The ghost gives Alex’s character additional depth and complexity, which increases the interest in his journey. I might not provide every detail, but at least enough information must be provided for the readers to fully understand his inner struggles and objectives.

In the normal world, Alex finds comfort in the small village of Crtrinstrant, which is surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests. He limits his creative expression because he is afraid of unpredictable outcomes, which prevents him from realizing the full potential of his skills.  In the adventure world, Alex discovers a fascinating space where his artwork comes to life in striking detail, a hidden kingdom within his own artwork. As he sees the good his work can do when used properly, this new environment forces him to face his deeply created lies.
