Task 3 – My Story Idea
- Story Idea/Plot –
- The main plot of my story revolves around a ‘dazed and confused’ approach in which 3 separate storylines are taking place at the same time. The story mainly revolves around our main character Mark, but cuts back and forth between other groups that ultimately/oddly come together in the final climax of the film.
- Main Character – Mark
- Basic Description –
- Mark is a pretty basic college student. He’s a freshman, in a fraternity, with a large group of friends. He’s pretty one sided at the beginning of the film, yet as it unfolds we learn he’s more than that.
- The Lie They Believe –
- Mark, although surrounded by those who adore him, has always felt there’s something more to him, and although he hasnt found it out yet, he believes that succumbing to the classic college experience will help him find himself.
- Their Want Vs. Their Need –
- Mark wants to be idolized for the right reasons. Mark Needs to live for himself instead of others.
- Their Ghost –
- Mark’s character arc revolves around him figuring out what makes others attracted to him (not necessarily romantically). However, as the story progresses Mark slowly begins to realize that as long as he’s happy in the present moment, there’s no need to dwell on what could/couldn’t be.
- Basic Description –
- Setting –
- Our story takes place on a college campus somewhere in the midwest, the true location is up to interpretation/doesn’t really matter to the story all that much. It’s more focused on the age range/emotional paths of the characters themselves.
- We frequently bounce around the campus/surrounding area, plot points include Mark’s fraternity house, the football field/stadium, a coffee shop, and a lecture hall.
