Brain Dump – Abbi Downer

Brain Dump:

~Consider characters, setting, conflict, themes, ideas. Anything that comes to mind… senses, colors, places, smells, objects, time periods, etc. Make a mess!~

1/23/24

Person dealing with something and then going camping, forced to deal with it.

-canoe through the small, tight stream, with each spider that falls and makes its way into the boat, felt themselves feel more and more panic, stress, anger, survival

-but in the middle of nowhere, nowhere to go but the canoe or in the stream (filled with slush, leeches, sticks, logs, fish, etc) and was forced to deal with the spiders and continue canoeing.

-in real life, I started sobbing and lost myself

-campsite, no service, just nature and in the middle of nowhere on allagash lake, Maine

A story about someone dealing with something ( a heavy emotional load/ trauma that hasn’t gone away yet ) and then they go camping on Allagash Lake.

-This is sort of a true story about myself, but sort of not…

Could make the story just a long, drawn out, detailed image of the stream, spiders, and finding bravery and courage, or maybe the stream is the beginning, when they realize they lack those things, and then the camping trip centers them again, because of lack of distractions and other things they have to face.

In real life, this was the case.

Lie that a character believes?
