After more research, I find it interesting that in the 1800s the tracks were used to transport lumber and goods from Bangor to Old Town while the river experienced ice blockage. Today, the tracks are still in use, but my friends and I have taken a new meaning to the area. The first time we came to this spot, I remember walking through the running water to get to a deeper section while thinking about the depth: how upset I would be if I fell in, or if I would even be able to catch anything.
