Web Project: Design for Culture<\/h3>\n

Project 2, an individual project, builds on the research and resources you gathered in part two of this course covering DEI, AI, Fake News, Propaganda, Surveillance or Privacy, and explores ways digital tech can be used to support a healthier culture, especially in its information strategies.<\/p>\n

Consider the research and information \u00a0you used in Task 6-9 , and draw materials, research, \u00a0text or ideas from those to create Project 2. \u00a0 This project is basically an update and revision of one of your previous projects, expanding research sources, information and analysis for a more robust project. \u00a0While you may use data from Tasks 6-9, the form of this will be a 5-7 page web article using at least 3 full pages of revised and updated text (about 750 words) plus an equal or greater amount of images, charts, video, etc. \u00a0Use Adobe Express<\/strong><\/a> or Google Sites to create a textual AND visual story\/argument, using a similar format to Task 9.<\/p>\n

  1. Search:<\/strong> Inquire among family, friends, classmates etc about any cases of helpful or harmful examples of DEI, AI, Fake News, Propaganda, Surveillance or Privacy.<\/li>\n
  2. Research<\/strong>: use class articles and your own research to learn as much as you can about specific cases and benefits or dangers and\/or remedies for the specific examples you discovered in your \u201csearch\u201d<\/li>\n
  3. Web Story<\/strong>: Use text and images as well as video clips in a web document like Adobe Express Web Page or Google Sites to create your story or argument. Consider these sections which could each take up a page of text\/image\/charts\/video.\n

    • What is the case or example? describe it fully<\/li>\n
    • What is the benefit or harm caused? and why? for whom?<\/li>\n
    • How might the benefit be expanded or the harm be mitigated? consider both technical and behavioral options.<\/li>\n
    • What tips would you give your reader based on the case and your research?<\/li>\n
    • Based on this case, what conclusions can you draw for readers trying to improve their design strategies?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Sources<\/strong>: List 3 or more sources from class readings\/videos (see the Resources section for this week for optional readings) and at least 2 of your own sources in a credits page at the end of your story (this page does not count as part of the 5-7 pages).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Your text should be thoughtful and coherent. Also make sure that your “visual argument” is parallel to your textual argument–use visuals to make your case in an orderly way, just as you do with your text. Aim for clean visual coherence with consistent font, color, design, layout, and style to support \u00a0your text message.<\/p>\n

      In a final credits page, cite ALL your sources, class, professor, music etc.<\/p>\n

      For your post,<\/p>\n

      • use category: Task 10, a relevant featured image,<\/li>\n
      • a brief 1-2 sentence summary\/abstract in text \u00a0and<\/li>\n
